Physical fitness is different meaning to just about everyone and registers with people differently. You might think It's from high school gym class or if you joined a branch of the military and had to do with calisthenics; you know jumping jacks and push-ups. Or it could mean those guys and girls that went out for sports and spent lots of time on a team, competing. Some may thing it’s an overall feeling of well being by a healthy trim body and a pure life style. It could be just the ability to complete a certain task like climbing a set of stairs without wheezing or coughing. The one thing it is for everyone is some sort of measurement. It’s how you compare yourself to a basic standard or rule that someone else developed. You could say “you’re physically fit if you can do 50 pushups”, that may be true, but that measure of physical fitness may be too simple. Whatever the term means, it usually has to do with athletic and healthy people.
Lifetime Fitness - a devotion
If you review areas on the web that discusses physical fitness you may find that it comes down to two categories of one is the product of fitness and the other process. Product refers to health, physical fitness and well being where process refers to actions from the product, like dance, sports, physical activity and exercise. The chart below shows two main distinctions related to the product. Where Physical Fitness is broken down into three areas related to the physical make up of the body or physiological, those items that are health related and then those that are skill related. Skills stand by themselves which may also include a factor dealing with physical attributes and motor.

According to research for the President's council on physical fitness and sports; it's a set of attributes that people have or achieve relating to their ability to perform physical activity (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1996).
