			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are plenty of joggers who do not believe there is much value in treadmills. But they are wrong because there is a long list of advantages &#8211; they offer a safe and regular running surface and they tell you exactly what distance you have covered. A treadmill run is never disrupted by the weather, you can run safely at night and you cannot get attacked or be in an auto wreck.</p>
<p>Therefore treadmill running does have some benefits. However we also need to know what are the disadvantages of this type of running and how can they be overcome. The problems with treadmill running fall into 2 groups: 1. relying on treadmill running may bring problems if you are following a training program. 2. problems that can be overcome if you purchase the right treadmill.</p>
<p>The first problem, the impact treadmill training will have on your overall fitness program, depends on your fitness aim. So if it is purely to become fit then stay there, you will find the treadmill a winner. Running offers a fine cardio workout, and though it is not equally effective on all parts of the body it helps your legs (of course) and your back, chest, stomach and arms. Some folk will want to complement the running with Pilates, swimming, weights or whatever. Another bonus for runners is that it is one of the exercises that works your bones &#8211; good for keeping osteoporosis at bay. If running is not yet in your sights, running machines are great for walking on as well.</p>
<p>If your fitness goal is a running race &#8211; a fun run, a marathon or a shorter event &#8211; then the running machine should only be part of the running you do. For road racing we need to practice on the road so that we become accustomed to the different stresses and strains this causes. Anyone who only runs on a machine will not be comfortable on the road. Yet the treadmill helps in many situations, like if the only time you can train some days is after dark and you do not want to run around at night on your own. If you want to use the treadmill to train for outside running then set the incline feature to 1% &#8211; this helps get your striding right for outside conditions.</p>
<p>The rest of the problems we will encounter are to do with buying the wrong kind of machine. Buy a treadmill that is good enough to last for a long time &#8211; many people under buy thinking that they can trade up later. The trouble with this tactic is that many of the cheaper models are so bad that you will be quickly discouraged.</p>
<p>You want to buy a product from an experienced running machine company. Do not neglect the motor, but do not simply buy the largest motor your money can buy &#8211; 2 HP is plenty if it is quality and bigger motors that come cheaper may have shortcomings like poor cooling systems that lead to failure.</p>
<p>Something else to consider is the size of the belt on the treadmill. Some come up very short which means the area you have to run on is quite tight. Running on short belts is difficult, so go for one with a longer belt. You should also look at the electrics. Look for something that is simple and straightforward to use. And to be certain make sure you try a couple before you buy, then you can make you purchase online or at a store.</p>

A very basic treadmill can  start as little as $400, and the premium models with all the  bells and whistles can be over $3000. So many people opt for a  used or discount treadmill hoping to save some money.</p>
<p>But how do you know that the treadmill you are buying is a  good one? One good way to find out if that used treadmill is  going to be worth it is to do some homework. All the different  brands of exercise equipment are not the same. Some are  definitely of better quality than others. Read treadmill  reviews and treadmill ratings for the brand of treadmill you  are looking at purchasing. Chances are, if it has an excellent  rating as a new piece of exercise equipment, it will also be a  good used item, as well.</p>
<p>Some of the things you should consider when buying a used  treadmill include the age and the frequency that it was used. A  good rule of thumb is to never buy a used treadmill that is  more than five years old. Equipment that old is going to need  some major work very soon.</p>
<p>Experts suggest that you should never pay more than 50% for  used exercise equipment. This is the going rate; so don’t offer  more than that.<br />
When buying a treadmill, you should consider all the features  of it. It must suit your needs or it is not a bargain. Things  like speed, incline, deck type, type of motor and belt,  user-friendly control and display panels, durability and  stability of the frame and the safety features are all things  that should be looked at before buying. Again, checking the  ratings for safety and performance of the type of treadmill you  are looking at will give you a lot of insight into how it will  perform as a used piece of equipment.</p>
<p>There are many companies that sell remanufactured or  refurbished exercise equipment. This is equipment that has been  sent to a factory and had all the worn parts replaced and been  spiffed up to look as good as new. This is a good option for a  discount treadmill, because they usually come with some type of  warranty.</p>
<p>There are many places to find out about the ratings for  treadmills, both new and used. Checking online sources, reading  magazines and publications for exercise equipment and asking  people who own and run exercise gyms are all good ways to find  out about the best and worst treadmill ratings and reviews.  This way, you can make an informed purchase of discount or used  treadmills with confidence.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When people talk about the different types of home gyms, they are often referring to the various types of equipment used for resistance and weight training. There are many different types (and numerous brands within each type) so it’s difficult to know where to start. Here is a brief overview of the different types of home gyms to get you started on your search for the one that’s right for you</p>
<p><strong>Weight Stack Home Gyms</strong>. These types of home gyms are the ones that you often see in fitness centers. They are the pieces of equipment that have the stacks of weights and you can choose your weight by putting in a pin and continuing with your exercise on each individual machine. Some of these come in an entire circuit with one or two machine possible on each machine or as a whole unit with 3-5 different “work” areas around one central weight station and multiple exercises possible at each work area. A variation to this type of home gym is the kind that use free weights in place of the stacks so users would then stack the free weight discs on the machine instead of choosing a weight with a pin.</p>
<p><strong>Band Resistance</strong>. These types of home gyms use resistance bands instead of weights. The stated benefit for these types of home gyms is that the resistance is progressive and offers a more challenging workout. Oftentimes, these home gyms start with a basic band system and bench with pulleys and bars for upper arm exercises and an area set up for lower body workouts as well. Some even include (or offer as add on equipment) rowing machines and additional exercise equipment.</p>
<p><strong>Free Weights</strong>. These types of home gyms are the ones with free weights of varying weights, barbells and weight discs. To properly uses these types of home gyms, you’ll need a weight bench that offers in incline back as well as space to use the free weights in other exercises.</p>
<p>Regardless of what type of home gym you choose, you’ll want to make sure the home gym you purchase includes an adjustable and reclining bench, a wide range of weigh selections, enough varieties of exercise to be able to work upper body muscle groups (including pull down and push up bars or equipment) and leg extension/curl systems to work lower body. Overall, the more exercises you can do on your home gym the more benefits you’ll get from it. Before purchasing any type of home gym, you can ask about this number and have a sales associate show you the types of exercises available on each particular machine.</p>
<p>Just like purchasing any exercise equipment, when you’re choosing the type of home gym that’s right for you, it’s important to go to a store and try out each type to see which one works the best for you (and so you can physically see the size to know if you actually have room for it.)</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So, you&#8217;ve finally decided you have to do &#8220;something&#8221; to get  yourself in better shape. It&#8217;s a fact that in the United States  obesity and overweight have reached epidemic proportions.  Overweight also plays a major role in numerous preventable  diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. It  is also a fact that diet alone will not give you sustained  weight loss and better health. To sustain a healthy weight, and  to achieve better health you also need aerobic exercise.</p>
<p>For many of us with hectic lifestyles, going to work, taking  care of the kids, and running errands each day, a gym  membership may not be the way to go. However, without any  excuse, each and every one of us can find at least 20 extra  minutes in our day to exercise at home. Do it in the morning  while watching the news, after dinner while watching your  favorite reality show. Do it in the afternoon while the baby  naps.</p>
<p>Treadmill work-outs in the home are fast becoming a favorite  aerobic work out for busy professionals. Treadmill popularity  is also on the rise for senior citizens. Generally older people  benefit from low impact exercise, and treadmills let you walk,  and run, at a pace comfortable for you. You can walk and run in  the comfort of your own home in any kind of weather.</p>
<p>As with buying any merchandise, you get what you pay for.  Treadmills range from $500 to $3000 and up. They can be bought  new, or at any used equipment store. As with any exercise  program, your success is based on finding something that keeps  your interest and something you will stick with. The prevalence  of used treadmills for sale means that someone else decided it  wasn&#8217;t for them. Some buyers opt to spend less on a machine at  first. Then, if they decide that the treadmill is an exercise  they will stick with, they spend more money for an upgraded  treadmill.</p>
<p>Treadmills are generally classified as basic, advanced, and  commercial. A basic treadmill would be one that is manual,  meaning without a motor. On a basic treadmill your feet  actually get, and keep the belt moving. A commercial treadmill  would be like something you would use in your neighborhood gym.  A commercial grade treadmill will have a high quality motor, be  able to reach faster speeds, have steeper inclines, will be  better built overall than a lower priced treadmill, and, a  commercial grade treadmill will give you a wide variety of  options and programmability. Most treadmills have console  panels that allow easy viewing of distance, incline, speed, and  heart rate. More expensive treadmills have pre-programmable  programs. They allow you to set your desired heart rate and  then will automatically adjust speed and incline until your  desired heart rate is achieved.</p>
<p>New fitness guidelines suggest a combination of aerobic  conditioning and muscle strengthening. Your own work out  program needs to be based on your present fitness level and the  level of fitness you wish to achieve. If you are over the age  of 35 it is always advised to check with your doctor before  starting any type of exercise program. If you have any  questions or concerns you might want to talk with an exercise  physiologist who can help you plan your exercise program.</p>

<p>If you are looking to shed unwanted pounds, implement a treadmill workout routine along with a sensible, healthy diet. The treadmill allows you the convenience of exercising in a safe, comfortable, climate controlled environment anytime day or night.</p>
<p>If you are just starting out, check with your doctor before you begin any exercise regime. When you begin, start at a nice, easy pace, do shorter workouts for a few weeks and increase the length and intensity as your fitness level improves.</p>

You might think It&#8217;s from high school gym class or if you joined a branch of the military and had to do with calisthenics; you know jumping jacks and push-ups.  Or it could mean those guys and girls that went out for sports and spent lots of time on a team, competing.   Some may thing it’s an overall feeling of well being by a healthy trim body and a pure life style. It could be just the ability to complete a certain task like climbing a set of stairs without wheezing or coughing. The one thing it is for everyone is some sort of measurement.  It’s how you compare yourself to a basic standard or rule that someone else developed.  You could say “you’re physically fit if you can do 50 pushups”, that may be true, but that measure of physical fitness may be too simple. Whatever the term means, it usually has to do with athletic and healthy people.</p>
<h3>Lifetime Fitness — a devotion</h3>
<p>If you review areas on the web that discusses physical fitness you may find that it comes down to two categories of  one is the product of fitness and the other process.  Product refers to health, physical fitness and well being where process refers to actions from the product, like dance, sports, physical activity and exercise. The chart below shows two main distinctions related to the product.  Where Physical Fitness is broken down into three areas related to the physical make up of the body or physiological, those items that are health related and then those that are skill related.  Skills stand by themselves which may also include a factor dealing with physical attributes and motor.</p>

<p>Resistance on the exercise bike can be adjusted to intensities that will suit individual’s aerobic needs from the gentle to the more rigorous. The versatility of the exercise bike makes it adjustable to different requirements of the exerciser. Some prefer the slow pedaling at higher resistance levels; others need spinning the wheel at lower resistance levels while some would want to use different resistance alternately. It can also suit the exerciser requirements that would need a more forward leaning position, an upright position and the recumbent position.</p>
<p>When doing the exercise for the first time, a health professional should always be around to provide a safe program for the patient. Knowing the patient’s optimal heart rate is crucial in determining the program and to prevent injuries. Aside from the exercise programs the health professional will also determine the correct posture and resistance that are needed. They are also trained to spot potential difficulties that could cause more problems that someone not trained will not.</p>
<p>Normally, these kinds of programs should be done three times a week for at least 20 minutes each. The patient is always required to start slowly especially for those who are not used to the rigors of exercising. One of the main objectives here is to raise the patient’s heart rate from 60 to 85% of the patient’s maximum heart rate.</p>
<p>For people who would prefer to have the exercise at home instead of going regularly to the gym, an exercise bike is a convenient machine, as it requires very little space. Some exercise bikes are collapsible so that it does not continue to occupy spaces when no longer in use and be tucked away under a bed or a closet.</p>
<p>Exercise bikes can be as inexpensive as a few hundreds of dollars to a few thousand depending on the features and other benefit that it offers.<br />
In lieu of the exercise bike, an ordinary bicycle can also be used. The bike is mounted on a trainer (which is very cheap and is very easy to install), where the rear wheel of the bicycle is raised and the exerciser uses this as a stationary bike. Trainers can be bought at most bicycle retailers.<br />
There are many benefits that the exercise bike can provide but it is especially effective for people who have back ailments.</p>
<p>Riding a bike on the roads, running and jogging is good at strengthening the back conditions of patients but it can also injure the spine, this is why a stationary bike is a popular alternative. Some ailments that could benefit best from an exercise bike are the Spinal Stenopsis and the Osteoarthritis.<br />
Exercise bike are good at strengthening back muscle groups, the leg, calf, the hamstrings at the back of the thigh and can also work the abdominal muscles.</p>
<p>Exercise bicycles can also improve the flexibility of muscles and ligaments. It can also aid to a very large extent the range of movements of the muscles that otherwise can develop spasms and stiffness. Exercise bikes can help reduce the stresses of the muscles at the lower back, and with regularity of use can promote circulation and cardiovascular health.</p>

While these weight loss exercise programs may work for some people out there, they are not for everyone. Plus, the best way to lose weight and keep it off (which is really the most difficult part of the process for most people) is to make changes in their eating and exercise habits.</p>
<p>The first thing you need to do is start a weight loss exercise program. It doesn’t have to be life altering – just make sure you get up and get going. When you start your weight loss exercise program, be sure to consult with a physician and also set up a few appointments with a personal trainer who can find out what exercises will benefit you the most.</p>
<p>Then, to supplement this weight loss exercise program you’ll need to start making changes in your life. If you’re overweight you probably have some habits that contribute to it. The best way to keep off the weight you lose through your weight loss exercise program is to make little changes (even if just one at a time) so that you don’t find yourself creeping back to your old habits after the work of losing your weight in the first place.</p>
<p>Here are some ideas:</p>
<p><strong>Become more active throughout the day, not just during your workout time.</strong></p>
<p>1. If you ride the bus or other form of public transport, walk an extra block before getting on and get   off one stop early to add in some walking to and from work.<br />
2. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.<br />
3. Do something active while watching TV: jumping rope, jogging in place, dusting the house, etc.<br />
4. Get up ten minutes early and take a quick walk around the block before getting ready for work.<br />
5. On your break at work, take a walk instead of having a snack.</p>
<p><strong>Make changes in your diet.</strong></p>
<p>1. If you drink soda, start by replacing one soda a day with water. Just do one at a time. Eventually, you’ll be able to give up the high calorie drink all together.<br />
2. Find healthier versions of your favorite junk foods. Instead of potato chips, look into baked chips or pretzels for example.<br />
3. Add a small lettuce salad to the beginning of each meal.<br />
4. Prepare yourself with healthy snacks. Many people have a difficult time resisting junk food when they are the hungriest and junk food is convenient. Keep some healthy snacks in your bag, briefcase or desk so that you have a backup when hunger strikes.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>While a woman could jump right into a man’s fitness routine and see some benefits, they may not be getting the benefits they would if they instead started a program especially designed for fitness for women.</p>
<p>In fact, it seems difficult for women to engage in fitness programs as well. According to the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, women are less likely than men to participate in fitness programs. It also reports that 60 percent of women do not get enough exercise and 25 percent do not get any at all.</p>
<p>A successful fitness for women program incorporates not just exercises, but the whole package:</p>
<ul>
<li> <strong>Nutrition:</strong> Women have changing nutritional needs based on their ages as well as depending on whether or not they are trying to conceive, pregnant, nursing or going through menopause. A fitness for women program should reflect these individual needs.</li>
<li> <strong>Weight Training:</strong> It’s common for women to avoid programs that include weight training because they are afraid they will “bulk up” and want to avoid that look. It is important for them to find a fitness for women program that understands these concerns and helps them strength-train without the bulk. Women need fitness programs that include strength training for many reasons including that it is important for bone health.</li>
<li> <strong>Aerobic Exercise:</strong> Most fitness for women programs include aerobic exercise. This is important. There are even fitness for women programs out there that are just for women for those who are not comfortable exercising with men.</li>
</ul>
<p>Those who can find a fitness for women program experience many benefits:</p>
<ul>
<li> <strong>Young women</strong> who participate in fitness for women programs set the standard for the rest of their lives. Since they already have a basis for healthy living, exercise often comes more easily as they age.</li>
<li> <strong>Middle aged women</strong> often complain of weight gain. This weight gain is likely a mixture of changing hormones, slowing metabolism and lifestyle changes. Those who find a fitness for women program that works for them, however, can often counteract most, if not all, of these negative effects</li>
<li> <strong>Elderly women</strong> can also help preserve some of their youth through a fitness for women program. Strength naturally decreases as we age, so anything women can do to stop that decrease in strength will help them stay healthy and independent as long as possible.</li>
</ul>
<p>Fitness for women is its own niche within the fitness industry. Women have special needs to meet their individual goals and that is where a great fitness for women program comes into play. Any woman looking for a fitness program should look for the whole package tailored to their age and needs.</p>
